XVII wieczny skarb znaleziony w Ełku

Ponad 500 monet z XVII wieku odkryli w Ełku członkowie Stowarzyszenia Historyczno – Eksploracyjnego „Jaćwież”. Skarb był ukryty pod starą nawierzchnią ulicy Wojska Polskiego, która podczas remontu ulicy została zdjęta i wywieziona na os. Konieczki.

Znalezisko trafi do Muzeum Historycznego w Ełku. Podczas dzisiejszej konferencji prezydent Ełku podziękował i pogratulował członkom stowarzyszenia historycznego odkrycia.

5 czerwca w Muzeum Historycznym w Ełku odbyła się konferencja prasowa, podczas której prezentowany był XVII wieczny skarb odnaleziony przez członków Stowarzyszenia Historyczno – Eksploracyjnego Jaćwież  w hałdach ziemi zdjętych z nawierzchni ulicy Wojska Polskiego w Ełku. Ponad 500 monet o różnych nominałach wzbogaci kolekcję ełckiego muzeum.

Jedna z hipotez głosi, że monety były zakopane w glinianym naczyniu. Był to być może depozyt kupca lub karczmarza. Druga hipoteza zakłada, że był to majątek – depozyt żołnierza.

Prezydent miasta Tomasz Andrukiewicz dzisiaj oficjalnie podziękował członkom stowarzyszenia za odnalezienie skarbu o dużej wartości historycznej dla miasta Ełku.

Jako pierwsza w hałdach ziemi została odnaleziona szwedzka moneta 1 ore z 1607 roku, a następnie pierwsza moneta depozytu – półtorak Zygmunta III Wazy oraz szeląg ryski Livonia, Krystyna Waza zwany „Krystynką”.

– W dziejach Ełku nie mieliśmy do tej pory takiego znaleziska. Na Warmii i Mazurach prawdopodobnie też nie. Jest to jedna z większych kolekcji w Polsce. Dlatego możemy mówić o skarbie z Ełku. Dziękuję członkom Stowarzyszenia Historyczno – Eksploracyjnego Jaćwież nie tylko  za odnalezienie skarbu i podjęcie starań by te wszystkie monety trafiły do Muzeum Historycznego w Ełku, a także za dokumentację zdjęciową z prac.  Jest to kolejne działanie wspierające rozwój naszego muzeum. Dzięki Wam następne pokolenia młodych ełczan będą mogły być świadkami tych historii – powiedział Tomasz Andrukiewicz, prezydent Ełku.

– W naszym stowarzyszeniu jest łącznie 20 osób. Łączy nas przede wszystkim zamiłowanie do historii, poszukiwań skarbów. To czym się zajmujemy to nasza pasja i praca, którą wykonujemy charytatywnie. Poszukując miejsc, w których jest szansa na znalezienie przedmiotów mających wartość historyczną kierujemy się głównie mapami. Wśród tych lokalizacji znajduje się m.in. ełckie podgrodzie, zaplecze lotnicze III Rzeszy w Ełku i Skomętno Wielkie. Jednym ważnych dla nas miejsc była też ulica Wojska Polskiego, która była przecież główną ulicą prowadzącą do zamku – mówił Mariusz Jarząbek, prezes stowarzyszenia.

Prezes stowarzyszenia podziękował także za pomoc i wsparcie prezydentowi Ełku, developerowi oraz konserwatorowi zabytków.

Na ulicy Wojska Polskiego koncentrowało się życie najpierw osady, a później miasta. Dowodzą tego właśnie m.in. monety pochodzące z całej ówczesnej Europy.

Łącznie członkowie Stowarzyszenia Historyczno – Eksploracyjnego Jaćwież podczas przeszukiwania hałd znaleźli ponad 500 XVII wiecznych monet o różnych nominałach m.in.: półtoraki i szelągi ryskie, szelągi Fryderyk Wilhelm, szóstaki Zygmunt III Waza, szelągi Karol X Gustaw, 8 skilling Chrystian IV (Dania), 2 pensy Karol II (Szkocja), orty Jana Kazimierza, Georga Wilhelma, 3 krajcary Leopolda II, trojaki Zygmunta III Wazy, grosz litewski, szeląg litewski Jana Kazimierza, szeląg wileński Zygmunta III Wazy i kilka ortów. Wisienką na torcie są  niderlandzkie zwolle, emisja miejska, talar.

Nie wiadomo na razie ile warte jest to znalezisko. Cekawostką jest jednak to, że w ówczesnym czasie, tj. w I połowie XVII w garniec piwa kosztował dwa półtoraki lub cztery szelągi Krystyny Wazy.

Wśród znalezisk znalazło się także kilka monet miedzianych tzw. falsyfikatów z epoki czyli monet podrobionych w tamtych czasach. Kilkanaście monet jest nadal w trakcie identyfikacji.

Podczas dzisiejszej prezentacji można było też obejrzeć inne przedmioty, m.in. kute gwoździe, ołowiana matryca najprawdopodobniej zapisana w języku hebrajskim (pochodząca z Ełku), odznaka pruska z I wojny światowej, odznaka studencka z Uniwersytetu Królewieckiego.

Całe znalezisko za pośrednictwem konserwatora zabytków trafi do Muzeum Historycznego w Ełku, które będzie prowadziło badania i udostępni zbiór mieszkańcom.

Poszukiwania prowadzone były na działce jednego z ełckich developerów na os. Konieczki. Tam składowana była ziemia pochodząca ze zdjętej podczas remontu nawierzchni ul. Wojska Polskiego.
